One can never have enough power.
Supercars like the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta are extremely expensive to purchase, costly to maintain and hard to come by. With the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta’s 6.3-liter V12, the monstrous supercar produces 730 horsepower in a dignified manner. For those who don’t have the means to purchase an F12 but want the same neck-snapping performance, this 2014 Roush Ford Mustang should do the trick. Unbelievably, the Mustang claims to have 750 hp, 20 more horses than the F12.
The 2014 Mustang isn’t a slouch in a straight line or around the corners, but that hasn’t stopped Roush from increasing performance to supercar levels. America’s favorite muscle car came with a 5.0-liter V8 engine that put out 420 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. While that’s better than the average sports car, it’s nothing to write home about when it comes to supercars and that’s where Roush Performance comes in. The tuning company offers three performance packages for the muscle car, with Phase 3 being the most potent. To boost the muscle car to supercar performance, Roush performance places a Roots-Style Twin Vortices Series (TVS) R2300 supercharger on top of the “Coyote” 5.0-liter’s V8 engine.
To ensure that the supercharger is putting out the maximum amount of power, the kit features Roush’s high-efficiency intercooler, a Roush fuel pump voltage regulator, twin 60 mm throttle body, Roush cold air induction, high-flow fuel rail and more. This isn’t a simple plug and play type of modification, so it shouldn’t be a surprise to hear that the kit itself goes for roughly $6,400. And prices don’t include fuel injectors, the supercharger pulley or the belt. Don’t for a second think that this Pony is all show and no go, however. Roush engineers have spent an incredible amount of time making sure that this muscle car can corner like a pure thoroughbred.
The muscle car comes with Roush’s Performance Suspension System that features bespoke-valved front and rear shock absorbers, a stiffer front stabilizer bar, rate-matched front and rear coil springs along with a rear anti-wheel hop upper control arm. To match the muscle car’s newfound performance, the car has been fitted with the “R6” aerobody package with a customized graphic package. At $49,995, this muscle car will have you questioning why the other prancing horse is more expensive.
