We have known for a little while now that Chevrolet is working on the next-generation Camaro ZL1. The new car will likely be powered by the Z06's supercharged 6.2-liter LT4 V8 with a total of 640 horsepower and 630 lb-ft of torque. This is also the same engine found in the new Cadillac CTS-V. Spyshots have been captured of the new high-powered muscle car and one key feature gave the indication that this was the ZL1. A camouflaged test mule was spotted with enormous brakes that are larger than the old model.
The last generation featured 14.6-inch rotors in the front and 14.4-inches in the rear with Brembo six-piston calipers in the front and four-piston binders at the back. The new brakes seem to be even larger with estimates coming in as high as 15 inches. Based on the rumors, the new ZL1 should be an impressive competitor for the new Shelby GT350R and Dodge Challenger Hellcat.
